I took the 23andMe test and it changed everything I thought I knew about myself and my family.

Here is my story…

My name is Jaclyn and I am a 33 year old wife and mom of two. Before I answered to the names “Mrs. Baxter” and “Mommy,” I was an only child growing up in Pollock Pines, California. One thing you should know about me is that from day one, my dad and I were inseparable. To call me a Daddy’s Girl would be an understatement. Even though I always wanted siblings, my dad filled that void by being the best parent, confidant, and friend that I could ask for. He was was the greatest joy of my life for 18 years – my happy place. He died in my arms when I was 18 years old after a life filled with health issues, and his last words to me were “I love you.”

Meet Sara- Expectant Mama and owner of Little Hippie Threads

My name is Sara Brenner, and I am the mom of an energetic almost two year old boy, as well as a little girl on the way! I was a single mom with my son for the first few months of his life and actually had him in a single moms maternity home, which was an amazing experience!

After having my son, I moved to Arizona and quickly met my now, husband while working out at the gym. We got married shortly after and now are due in July with our first child together!I’d have to say my biggest strength as a mom is not taking things too seriously.

I am by far one of those moms that just lets my son “do”. I don’t get worked up very easily because I know kids will be kids, and your child will try to eat dog food one time or another! ;).

When I’m not being a stay at home mom, I love being able to have date nights with my hubby. Anything from going out to a nice dinner, or just eating pizza by ourselves in the car.

Before I had my son I had a few different jobs, my favorite one though was being a nanny! Since having my son, I’ve tried to go back to work, but I’ve realized I don’t like it as much anymore haha! I did work for a little while but my husband has been incredibly supportive of me staying at home. Once both kids are in school though, I plan to go back to school to be an esthetician!

I have 10 weeks left of my pregnancy! Thankfully with both of my pregnancies I was never sick, and didn’t really show until about now. Now that I do have a bump it’s been funny to see people’s response when I say I’m due in July; up until this point people just thought I had a beer belly!

I’ve always loved screen printing, and experimented a little in high school but nothing too seriously. What made me want to start this time around is actually just to make my son clothes, but then realized it would be more fun to see others in them too. It was a hobby that turned into a business! I’d have to say the first time I considered myself a hippie would have been when I turned into a mom. We’re very free spirited at my house (besides my husband, he’s a total preppy boy lol!). I’m a total believer in just letting things be; we also do a lot of natural “holistic” remedies. We aren’t too involved with rules and such, I think just listening to your child’s needs and basing things off of where they are in their childhood is good enough.

I usually try to get all my work done in the morning, and be at the post office by the afternoon that way we both can have a nap haha! Also, I like to reserve night time for family time.

I’m a pretty open book! I love talking to others about my time in the maternity home because I think I really grew up while I was there. Someday I hope to open one myself! Plus living with 6 other pregnant ladies sure gives you a lot of stories to tell lol! With my son, I would literally go to Walmart while I was hungry and buy everything on the shelves, but this time around I haven’t had much of an appetite! Your second pregnancy definitely goes by a lot faster when you’re running after your first child all day (and running a business). The busier, the better!
